My 4 month old baby acts like he is ten help!!?

Ever since I brought my baby home he will not allow me to swaddle him or rock him to sleep he'll fuss cry and scream for me to just lay him down and let him fall asleep on his own is this normal has anyone else's baby do this I bought a really nice rocking chair and have not been able to use it I always imagined myself rocking my baby and singing him to sleep but he will not allow me to I tried to earlier but he started screaming crying holding his breath turning red and as soon as I layed him down he mumbled under his breath closed his eyes and went to sleep
