Why does Hamlet call Polonius a "great baby"? Please read details...?
***What does Hamlet imply about Polonius in his remark “That great baby you see there is not yet out of his swaddling clouts”?*** This is the exact question from an assignment in my literature class, but I have no clue what answer the teacher is looking for. I have read the play and watched the movie and looked over all the study guides (this isn't an attempt to cheat). I also understand the usual implications of calling someone a baby....immature, naive, uneducated, whines a lot, etc, etc...but the way the question is phrased makes it seem like he is looking for something specific that the comment references. Any insight?
