Your son sounds very normal for a 4 month old. 3 naps a day is normal at that age. Making him sleep less will just make him overtired and he will be cranky and have trouble settling down at night, making the whole thing worse - believe me, I tried this with my first baby! Some babies just need more night-time feedings than others. Hang in there! He'll sleep longer when he is ready.
